ABOUT THE BTCMSA

The Bluegrass & Traditional Country Music Society of Australia (BTCMSA).......

  • An informal, not-for-profit group of people interested in and playing, learning and sharing bluegrass, old-time & acoustic traditional country music.
  • Founded in June 1975 by a group of enthusiastic bluegrass & old-time musicians.
  • The first national association in Australia committed specifically to bluegrass, old-time and acoustic traditional country music.
  • Has remained true to the original focus, becoming the cornerstone for the growth and preservation of bluegrass & old-time music in Australia.
  • Activities are carried out on a volunteer basis by the founders, an informal coordinating group and other interested people who want to give time and energy to nurture the music.
  • A cooperative information-sharing network.
  • A focal point to support and inform the wider community about bluegrass & old-time music events, happenings and news.

There is an affiliated monthly get-together in Sydney with concerts, workshops and jamming for people at all levels of ability. First timers and beginners are especially welcomed! Listeners and learners also!

 

The BTCMSA also supports and sponsors other relevant and appropriate special events.

SYDNEY BLUEGRASS & OLD-TIME MUSIC GET-TOGETHER

SYDNEY BLUEGRASS & OLD-TIME MUSIC GET-TOGETHER - First Saturday each month (April-Dec) in the Annandale Community Centre, 79 Johnston St, Annandale (NSW). Safety In Numbers workshop and rehearsal:6.30pm. Bluegrass & Old-Time Music acoustic concert: 7.30pm. Jamming all night! All are welcome. Entry donation is $8 members/concession, $10 others, under-18 and 80+Free. This covers Safety In Numbers and Concert entry. All participation is voluntary, proceeds are used to pay costs of putting on the get-together.

We're back to the FIRST SATURDAY at Annandale!

 

June 2025 marks 50 years since a small group of people first met at Sydney University in June 1975 to talk about forming a bluegrass & traditional country music association.

 

Celebrate *50 years* with us on Saturday 7 June at the next Bluegrass & Old-Time Music Get-together at the Annandale Community Centre, 79 Johnston St, Annandale. Everyone is welcome!

 

*6.30pm: SAFETY IN NUMBERS - all welcome to learn & rehearse some songs to start the concert.

*7.30pm: CONCERT - acoustic bluegrass & old-time music.

JAMMING all night.

 

$8 members/concession; $10 Others; Under 18 and 80+ Free. Tea, coffee & snacks available.

 

We acknowledge and appreciate the Inner West Council's assistance with access to their community facility.
