Music On The Air

There are a number of radio programs which mainly or exclusively feature bluegrass, old-time and traditional acoustic country music and which you can listen to directly on the radio (if you are in the broadcasting scope of the radio station) or via streaming on one device or another. 

Whilst there are programs that play a little bluegrass, this page will be curated to only include programs that focus on bluegrass, old-time and/or traditional acoustic country music. They will be added as they come to hand. Feel free to contact us about programs and we'll include them if they fit into this listing!

We'll be aiming to capture as many locally-produced programs as possible, but also include some that are produced overseas. Most of the local programs can, of course, be accessed via the internet and we'll include the streaming link where possible. And, some programs will be accessible on more than one link. For locally produced programs, the State where the program is broadcast will be noted (in case you are in a different time zone). For programs originating outside Australia, the time listed will be Sydney, NSW time.

CHICKEN HOT ROD (NSW) 

Every Sunday, 9-11am on Ryde Regional Radio, 88.5 FM. Presented by Lindsay Mar. Bluegrass, old-time and other "forbidden delights".

BLUEGRASS IN THE CITY (QLD)

Monday 10-11pm; Tuesday 4-5am; Tuesday 11pm-12am. Caboolture Community Radio 101.5 FM. Produced and presented by Tony Lake. Pure bluegrass.

SOUTHERN STYLE (VIC)

Every Tuesday, 1-3pm on PBS FM 106.7. Presented by Jan Dale. Bluegrass & old-time with features and interviews with Australian artists.

BLUEGRASS BANDWAGON (QLD)

Every Tuesday, 6-7pm on Triple A, 98.9 FM. Presented by Lloyd Budd. Bluegrass, new grass & old-time. Local artists featured.

MUSIC FROM FOGGY HOLLOW (NSW)

Each Friday 10pm to Saturday 3am on Hawkesbury Radio, 89.9FM. Presented by Mike Kear. Also over the internet on bluegrasscountry.org (Washington DC) and WNRV Bluegrass Radio 990 AM & 97.3 FM (Virginia). Bluegrass with a smattering of old-time.

BACK PORCH BLUEGRASS (NZ)

Tuesdays 8pm (Sydney time) on Free 89.0 FM in Hamilton NZ. Presented by Paul Trenwith. Streamed via the accessmedia.nz App and available on Spotify at http://bit.do/Back-Porch-Spotify. Bluegrass, newgrass, NZ and Australian bands. 

BORN IN THE MOUNTAINS (USA)

Every Monday, 7am (Sydney time), on Radio IQ. Presented by Ivy Shepherd. Mostly old-time and old traditional country music.

CLASSIC GOLD BLUEGRASS SHOW (USA)

Every Monday, 10-11am (Sydney time), WEHC 90.7 FM. Presented by Linda Wright & Kenneth Berrier. Traditional bluegrass.

TIM WHITE BLUEGRASS HOUR (USA)

Every Monday 11am-12pm (Sydney time), WEHC 90.7 FM. Presented by Tim White. Bluegrass, mountain music and country comedy.

WAPQ (USA)

Located at Mt Airy, NC. https://www.wpaq740.com. Bluegrass, old-time and gospel music.

Live local music each Sunday 1-3.30am (Saturday morning in NC) on WPAQ's Merry-Go-Round program. 

BLUEGRASS COUNTRY (USA)
